Rare antique 18th century french violin made by Nicolas Desrousseaux in Verdun circa 1750. Fine antique french mid-18th century violin made by the french maker Nicolas Desrousseaux in Verdun. Once a stone carver, Desrousseaux entered the workshop of Joseph Miraucourt at the beginning of the century, and married his daughter in 1748. He then became a talented maker and opened his own workshop under the name "A la Luth".The instruments made by Nicolas Desrousseaux are extremely rare, so we are proud to present this one, even if it has suffered from different injuries through centuries. The top is made of two parts of spruce, and shows irregular grain lines. The back is made of two parts of faintly flamed maple. The ribs and head are of the same wood. The head is a prodigious example of the works produced by the wood carvers at that time, as the carving of the heads was reserved to their corporation. The f holes are quite straight, which was a particularity of this maker. The violin is covered with a brown varnish. The violin has been extensively repaired, with different repairs on the top and head, and some worm works repairs on the back and ribs. The neck has been changed, the button reset and the head grafted.
The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a new set of pegs, a new tailpiece, a new chinrest and a set of Thomastik Dominant strings. The violin is of course ready to play. On the back, under the neck button can be found the original fire brand of the maker, "DesRousseaux à Verdun". The violin is garanteed 100% authentic. The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality. The violin has a very rich mature, warm and projective sound. A fantastic french 18th century violin that will allow you the most complete repertory. Now you can listen to the violin being played by Roser.
