Rare French antique Daubière braisière Château à Versailles, France 1731 royal

The daubiere is a braising or roasting pot that, as you can see from the photographs, has a deeply recessed cover that originally would have been filled with hot embers or boiling water to aid the cooking process This lovely version is from the early eighteenth century and has been hand dovetailed seamed to its base plate up one side of the lid: All three of the solid bronze handles are hand cast All the handles are as firm as the day they were made and are held it is tinned inside this is worn Its base length is 12 inches and it is 17" inches between the side handles with a height of 7 inches, 8 1/2" to the lid rim, when it is on 7" wide at the bottom the depth of the lid is 2 3/4" 1.5mm walls weight 11.15lb The condition is good and the heavy gauge copper used gives the daubiere a weight of over 11 lbs. Allowing this uncommon piece to be the perfect pot for a long slow cooking process. Check out my other items.
