Acquired in France within the last few weeks. Rare & hard to find, Antique French Articulated Male Mannequin Siegel Stockman circa 1910. He dresses on the left. Life-size (162cm tall) & articulated, legs are fixed but torso tilts all angles & turns as required, as do the arms. Arms hinged/jointed at shoulder & elbow but also have a swivel joint in the upper arms to turn forearms outward.
Hands seem to be wood, covered by latex that has hardened, research suggests that the fingers were originally maluable. The hands unscrew for removal & both have splits in the surface, fingers all present but little finger on right hand has a break. Quality hardwood construction, in Beech it seems, legs are papier-mache with a gesso (plaster coating) then skin tone painted. Upper body also heavy gauge thick papier-mache, once covered by felt then linen, traces remain around the neck.Original leather dress shoes remain. The right shoe has a hole through the heel to allow a pole to insert into a hole in the heel of the right foot, once would have had a stand but it stands alone without it. There`s an access port in chest to dismantle the mannequin. A very good quality mannequin, research suggests makers are Siegel & Stockman. Lots of age to this piece, it has been used & there is evidence of this in the form of surface marks etc but all is expected & credible - we have not cleaned it. We can also post the mannequin to UK & Europe, it will be sent in two parcels. Unfortunately, prohibitively expensive to post outside the UK but costed for this service regardless.
Overall max height 162cm (64inch or 5ft4). It`s an attempt to show you what to expect in the post.
