It dates from around 1890, and is rare for having the lovely curved glass front. The cabinet is silk velvet covered wood, and has ormulu framing. There are also two very sweet monkeys at the back, either side of the two mirrors, which I believe signify good luck. The centre decoration is an Art Nouveau style lily. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was usual for fine ladies to display their wedding coronets and treasures, and these cases were made for that purpose.
They look wonderful in today's interiors, adding a sense of history and charm to your home. The back is held on by little metal clips that turn across. Everything is original, with nothing altered or added.
